Relational & Family Therapy |
Relational, family, or conjoint therapy, whatever you call it means there are more than two people in the therapy room; partners in a relationship or members of a family are treated together in joint sessions by one or more therapists, instead of being treated separately. In a conjoint therapy configuration, the relationship becomes the client. Specific issues and problems within the relationship are addressed collaboratively with the goal of building healthier interactions within couple and family systems. Relational therapy can aid individuals in recognizing the role previous romantic relationships and family history play in shaping of daily life- boundaries, values, expectations, coping, and sense of self.
