Alison Dixon, MSW, LCSW, CADC
Alison Dixon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with several years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Alison has a seen how depression/anxiety can cause turmoil for individuals and families; and she has developed a special niche for people (and their families) who struggle with addictions. Alison received her Master’s Degree at Aurora University, with a concentration in School Social Work and Substance Abuse.
The majority of her career has been spent working in shelters, hospitals, and private practice settings. Alison also has experience working with young adults who are transitioning into adulthood; post-divorce, grief and loss. Alison believes in a holistic approach; where she provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for client’s to process their thoughts and gain skills to improve their lives. Clinical tools such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, are all used, along with any tool the client finds
beneficial including family/peer engagement; spiritualty/faith.
Outside of the therapy room, Alison enjoys spending time with her family and her friends. Alison’s most important role is being an active Mom and Aunt of 5 nephews and niece. Alison enjoys reading, listening to music, day trips, and weekend dinners and card games with family.
