Nina Uzunyan- Ph.D., M.S., M.S. Candidate, MFTÂ Intern
Nina Uzunyan is a graduate student in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Northern Illinois University and a therapist-in-training working under clinical supervision.
Utilizing a warm, non-judgmental approach to support clients facing a variety of concerns. Her clinical work is grounded in an integrative systemic approach that incorporates narrative, play, symbolic, experiential, and art-based therapies. By weaving together stories, visual metaphors, imagery, and cultural references, she creates a creative space where clients can explore their experiences through games and expressive exercises.
Before transitioning to the mental health field, Nina earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology and served in emergency medical services. This scientific background complements her therapeutic work, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of physical and emotional well-being.
When not in the clinical space, Nina enjoys spending time with her family and exploring her passions for art history, film, botany, and travel. You might also find her bird-watching or tending to her garden.
