Aaron Levy is a Master of Social Work student at Aurora University and a clinical intern at Taking Control Counseling. He works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, substance use concerns, and challenges related to motivation and emotional regulation.
Aaron takes a collaborative, person-centered approach to therapy, believing that clients are the experts on their own lives. He strives to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where clients can speak openly, explore difficult experiences, and identify meaningful changes at their own pace. His style combines empathy, curiosity, authenticity, and humor, while recognizing that no single therapeutic approach works for everyone.
Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches, Aaron adapts treatment to each client’s individual needs, strengths, values, and goals. With a professional background in music and music education, he also welcomes opportunities to incorporate music and creative expression into sessions when clients find them helpful.
Aaron values cultural humility and believes effective therapy requires understanding each person within the context of their relationships, experiences, identities, and communities. Above all, he seeks to build a genuine therapeutic relationship in which clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they work toward the lives they want to lead.
